Howard Stern’s Mother Gets Her Very Own Cover

Howards' Mother's Book Cover

COVID-19 has given many people too much time, as is evidently the case with David Glantz who posted his parody of a Ray Stern book cover on Reddit.  Though I’m glad he did, and apparently so is Howard who shared it with his audience during a recent broadcast from the bunker of his Long Island mansion.

Howard cracks me up every time he does his impersonation of his parents, Ray and Ben (“Berel”) Stern.  “Buh-leeeve you me” is his mother’s signature phrase, along with “let me tell you something“, and you can clearly hear her inflection during much of Stern’s riffing, whereas the impersonation of his father is more exaggerated and Dracula-like.  Ray Stern’s problems clearly had an influence on Howard the child as well as Howard the adult, though he is not alone in that regard.

Howard Stern Depressed Parent

It has always been clear that Howard’s discomfort in his skin, and with his on-screen appearance, has resulted through the years in disappointing television appearances.  But he excels behind the microphone, as evidenced in this marvelous interview that he did as a guest with Terry Gross on NPR during promotion for his book last year where his intellect shines through.
