Ready for Guaranteed Rate Field

Guaranteed Rate Field doesn’t have the same ring to it as Comiskey Park, but that’s what the stadium where the major league White Sox now play in Chicago is named.  Just outside of Chicago, in Park Ridge, Illinois, a band of young Sox plays a game on a Field of Dreams.  Here’s Ethan Press, getting ready to sip the Gatorade, after mowing down the opposition 1-2-3 in his stint on the mound.

And here’s Ethan in the field, moving over to shortstop, where he signals to his buddy at third that there are 2 outs with a play at second base, even before the reminder comes from the coach.

And here is the little man flashing some leather, with an over-the-shoulder catch!

Moving to the on-deck cage, Ethan takes some practice whacks at the T-ball.

And then positions himself in the batter’s box where he gets ready to make solid contact.

And even though he was out at first based on this knock, Ethan shows good form in making solid contact!

And back in the field, his team comes so close to ending the game on a force play at second place that Ethan let’s out a Homer Simpson “Doh!”

But the guys come through on the next play, preserving a 3-2 victory for the Little Sox, as a triumphant Ethan runs off the field, arms raised in exultation.

And as a post-game ritual, Coach hands out baseball cards for stellar performances, with Ethan thinking he might be next but quickly realizing it’s a case of mistaken self-identity.
