That’s Dino as in “Dye-no”

He’s an American marketing icon, and the symbol of Sinclair Oil Corporation.

I haven’t seen a Sinclair Gas Station or Dino in years, to the point where I thought both were extinct.  So it was actually exciting to stumble across one in Scottsdale yesterday.


IMG_8609Looking it up, there are are multiple stations in the Midwest and West, but comparatively few on the East Coast.  In fact, only one in Philadelphia and a handful in New Jersey and New York.  Dino was all the rage growing up in the 50s and 60s, and had a major presence at the 1960s World Fair in New York.  You can take a stroll down memory lane with Dino here.
