Back to the Basics

The Phillies continue to make changes, and we’ll soon learn how many of them translate to wins on the field.  An overt one is renaming their spring training home, swapping out Bright House Networks in favor of Spectrum.

Though the name may have changes, a first look inside the stadium reveals that it’s still as beautiful as ever.

Manager Pete Mackanin is taking a hands-on approach this spring, micromanaging the smallest details down to keeping his balls in order.

Familiar faces abound in camp, though more so among the coaches and instructors than among the players.  A fan favorite remains the ex-manager known as Cholly, still a presence around the cage.

A personal favorite is gone, his number #25 unceremoniously recycled from Cody Asche to Daniel Nava.

And Harry Kalas’s favorte alliteration, Mickey Morandini, helped a few players including super sub Andres Blanco work on the basics of bunting.

Is Asche going to make the White Sox 25 man roster ?

  2. From their site, he’s got a shot:
“First baseman Cody Asche, a non-roster invitee for the White Sox who is in the mix for the last position-player spot”
