Members of the Mesa Solar Sox will be wearing a champions ring soon, in no small measure to the play of Ian Happ in today’s championship game. The first round pick of the Chicago Cubs in the 2015 made sure that his performance will long be remembered, going a perfect 4 for 4 with two home runs, one from each side of the plate, and a triple short of the cycle. The championship is determined by a one game event, and Ian played as if he was miffed by the snub of being left out of the Fall Stars Game. Both home runs were deposited over the right field fence – the second showing his opposite field power, and he played a flawless left field as well as co-dumping a perfect Gatorade barrel over his winning manager. Congratulations to Ian and the Happ Family on an historic day which hopefully moves him one step closer in pursuit of his major league dream.
