Take Me Out to the Ballgame …

What a beautiful afternoon it was at Surprise Stadium!  Couldn’t think of more enjoyable company than being at a baseball game with the Happ Family – Chris, Mary Beth and Aunt Pam.  A special treat for Miriam and me to join them in watching Ian compete.  He went 1-4 with a base hit, walk and run scored, and looked sharp in the field, helping Mesa to their 3-1 win over the Saguaros and keeping them in first place in the East Division.

Ian was gracious enough to sign a “Happ Family Ball” at the end of the game.  (Though I’m not into signature collecting, this will be a nice keepsake.)  He is a hyper-focused young man on the field, and I learned today that although the program lists him as being from Pittsburgh, Ian was actually born – and spent his childhood growing up in Philadelphia.  Well … not exactly Philadelphia, but West Chester – a small town 25 miles west of the City of Brotherly Love.
