The Lunatics are on the Shore …

It began two weeks ago, late on a Sunday evening, when Police evacuated all of the establishments on the Jenkinson’s Boardwalk at Point Pleasant Beach (NJ) due to a suspicious bag.  Turned out that although the bag was suspect its contents were not, and the boardwalk patrons had dodged a bullet (or in this case a perceived bomb).

This was followed nine days later by the evacuation of our town’s municipal building after another perceived bomb threat which again, thankfully, was a false alarm.  The tranquility of the shore was punctured more deeply yesterday morning by an actual pipe bomb explosion 16 miles to the south of us in Seaside Heights.  The bomb was detonated in a garbage can located at the start of the route of a Marine Corps charity race that injured no one, thanks to a delayed start due to the finding of a suspicious back pack.  The Shore was alarmed, yet relieved that it had been spared the fate of the Boston Marathon runners blown in various directions by the diabolical Tsarnaev brothers.

Then 12 hours later, news of a pipe bomb explosion in the Chelsea section of Manhattan, on 23rd street between 6th and 7th (a couple of blocks from my old stomping ground when SUNY-O was at 23rd & Park), with another suspicious device found a few blocks away. Authorities say that the bombings in NJ and NY were apparently unrelated.  Save for the fact that it signals the lunatic fringe is on the grass …

    Hadn’t connected that song with what’s happening but it fits now doesn’t it? The more lunatics see these things in the media the morethey are encouraged to do the same.
