There’s No Crying in Baseball

Perhaps the most famous baseball movie line of all time:  “There’s no crying in baseball”.

… but there is crying in the making of Gold’s Horse Radish.  In fact, President Steven Gold boasts that their motto is: “We do the crying for you”.

Steven’s older brother Marc isn’t crying.  He’s retired, which relieves him of the obligation to be available on Long Island every March, grinding away in the Gold’s plant readying horse radish for the Passover holidays in April.

As featured in the Sports section of today’s New York Times, Marc Gold has traded in his horseradish roots to indulge himself in rooting for the team that he stuck by – was stuck with – in the springtime of his life.  “Can you imagine rooting for a team that lost 75 percent of its games?” Gold asked.  Yo Marc — I can’t cry for you.  I’m a Phillies fan.
