In Jewish tradition, the child arriving at age 13 has become a man. We’re privileged to be in L.A. this weekend to celebrate the bar mitzvah of the grandson of close friends who has not only survived to become a young man, but is thriving. He was born with transposition of the great arteries requiring surgical intervention as a newborn, and it was pure joy to learn more about his talents and be part of this milestone. The prayers and speeches were numerous and heartfelt, with last night’s party as the cherry on top. Congratulations to the extended Friedman-Emerson-Cooper families!
