Notes From the Fall League

Keep your eye on Andrew Knapp, the intriguing catching prospect who made a name for himself by tearing it up with the bat for the double A Reading Fightin’ Phils in 2015.  He’s being interviewed here by Melanie Newman, a popular reporter for the Arizona Diamondbacks double A minor league affiliate.

Andrew Knapp

Knapp is intriguing because many consider him to be the best Phils catching prospect.  However they also have high hopes for catching prospect Jorge Alfano, acquired in the Cole Hamels trade.  Therefore Knapp, wearing my old fantasy uniform #8, has been seeing playing time in the AFL at first base.  He’s a left-handed hitter, so it’s possible if he has a good Fall and Spring, he could be valuable to the major league club sometime in 2016 as a left-handed bat splitting time between 1B and catcher – particularly if/when the Phillies cut ties with Ryan Howard.

We definitely need to get rid of Ryan Howard to make room for the future.

  2. Amen! I just might have more to say about that. 😉
