Is Donald Trump Saving Our Democracy?


Yes, according to Frank Rich and the cover story of this week’s New York magazine.  It’s an excellent article and carries this bolded quote: “He’s a direct descendant of Mark Twain’s 19th-century confidence men: the unhinged charlatan who decides to blow up the system.  Trump’s run for high office represents the biggest news since Howard Stern temporarily tossed his hat into the ring to run Governor of New York in 1994.  Stern withdrew because no subject was off-limits for discussion, except disclosing his personal finances – a requirement in running for public office.  Trump, on the other hand, loves nothing more than talking about his personal finances.

    Trump’s run for the Republican nomination may be “great”, in that it provides a mirror for where we are as a nation and as a civil society.
