Care of and for the Elderly

Our elder care system is terribly broken, and at some point I’m going to blog about its unfortunate consequences in more detail.  But for now the endless overcast days are punctuated by precious moments of sunshine.  Little victories come in the form of a pleasant diversion, or an aide who actually cares about the meager wages she makes after the inept agency that sends her takes its hefty bureaucratic cut – incessant billing being its only act of competence and timeliness.  In essence we’re expected to entrust one of our most demanding jobs to workers who are, by and large least prepared to accomplish the job with any degree of skill or empathy.  But for now, a moment or two of sunshine …
