On Writing

Earlier this month I blogged about a new book from Oliver Sacks, coupled with personal news that in some ways must have been difficult for him to share, yet cathartic at the same time.  Recently, in an intimate setting, Dr. Sacks delivered a wonderful reading on writing culled from his new book.

Several years ago I blogged about Spalding Gray having consulted with Dr. Sacks regarding his neurological difficulties.  Dr. Sacks’ most recent piece for The New Yorker magazine shows that despite his own ominous health issues, Oliver’s writing still brings as much pleasure to him as it does to his readership.
