Yankees Week

Well Monday was the first official day of Spring Training when all the Phillies and Yankees were out on the field for the opening ceremonies.

Just as well, because the weather today is cooler and overcast, though at 75 degrees our friends and family back in New Jersey & Philly wouldn’t complain.  Taking nothing away from David Buchannan, who started Monday’s game, today’s starting pitcher is Cole Hamels who will be the opening day starter of the regular season against the Boston Red Sox on April 6.

Well this is the third time this week already that we’re playing the Yankees, Monday and today here, and Wednesday in Tampa.  Including a split squad game in Tampa on the 15th, and full squad on the 19th there are two more Tampa games (on which I’ll take a pass) and one more Bright House game after today, on the 27th.  With the defection of teams from Florida to Arizona (though no new defections this year), the schedule is loaded with games against our not-too-distant Yankee neighbors in Tampa, and our next door neighbors the Blue Jays in Dunedin.
