Suite: Judy Blue Eyes

In the course of looking for something else, of course, I came across Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.  If Wiki tells it correctly, Suite — which is the story of Stephen Stills’ breakup with Judy Collins — was the very basis for the formation of Crosby, Stills and Nash.  Not entirely surprising given that much of artistic creativity is driven by intense emotions.  Our local Island Band, Dr. Cheeko, is in the habit of interspersing Spanish in some of their diddies, but no one did it more famously than Stills dropping in some Suite Spanish at the end of this classic CSN song.  Stills learned Spanish while attending Lincoln School in Costa Rica in the early ’60s, and the years have not diminished the brilliance of the song.  Here is an incredible live (mostly a cappella/acoustic guitar) version sung by an incomparable trio, with David Crosby doing his best Bert Lahr/Cowardly Lion impression, moving nary a muscle.
