This Sunday (late Saturday night) we’ll once again be marching time forward in the spring at 2 AM. We so look forward to our time on Clearwater Beach during March that the drive over the Causeway is delightful irrespective of traffic.
We stay at the Mandalay Bay, and you can’t beat the view out of Papaya 802 by day or at sunset.
They still let patrons ring the bell to signal the sunset over at the Sandpearl next door.
Ah … the Sandpearl. Still one of my favorite places to visit – even better than to stay there. Gorgeous lobby with player piano and palms over a pool area with a cascading waterfall. Hoist a toaast to Tate Island Grille and it’s wonderful bar and fire pit.
Though time marches forward, the front entrance to the Sandpearl speaks to the Fountain of Youth.
A section of The Sandpearl lobby still photographically chronicles changes through the 20th century, from the layout of the physical plant of its property to the physical properties of its layout.
At the end of the day, however, nightfall is the same in 2014 as it was pictured one hundred years ago and presumably will be one hundred years from now.
