Pitchers and Catchers and Others Have Reported

Now that being a baseball player comes with high stakes and high contracts, the preparation for spring training comes earlier and earlier.  Not only does spring training begin a week earlier than it used to, so that the season itself can begin earlier and end in October rather than November — but ballplayers who work to stay in shape year round are more likely to report to spring training early.  Such was the case today in Clearwater, Florida, as reported by csnphilly.com and their great photo gallery.

It is the first day of what is referred to simply as “Pitchers and Catchers”.

But it isn’t just about pitchers and catchers anymore.  Look who else participated in workouts, on this first official day of Spring Training Prep 2014.

… all under the watchful eye of this reunited tandem.
