Oprah Does Chasidish

And here I thought Oprah had become totally irrelevant.  Who knew that she was still at it?  Nice job by the Queen of All Media, quipping at the end of the clip: “Ladies, that was great.  Some of the best wigs I’ve ever seen.”  The video is a refreshing counterbalance to the exposure of improprieties in insular communities where adults rely on the “Shah Shtil Factor” facilitating social power brokers who prey on innocent children while they pray to God for cognitive dissonance.

Weberman

The juxtapositioning in today’s Wall Street Journal article oozes with irony.  Though the reference to The New Beast of the East is a nod to the New York Knicks’ return to prominence, it borders as a reference to Nechemya Weberman underscored by the co-incidental caption “Need To Know”.  So if we’re all on a need-to-know basis, what lessons (if any) are to be learned from Mr. Weberman’s conviction?

Takes me back to 10th grade, TYP, Rabbi Stefansky, and a Tractate still in my head debating whether a woman’s dowry should be 100 or 200, his answer to my query as he stroked his beard and shuckled East to West a terse: “Press, you ask too many questions”.

Leonard Press, the master of juxtaposition analysis, critical thinking, and iconoclastic irreverence ! The Satmar community needs to thoroughly reexamine its lifestyle and value system. BTW, Len, I’m not getting your blog feeds to my e-mail inbox. Wazzup wit dat ? Dan
