Author of Kosher Sex, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach of Englewood is more authoritative on erections than he is on elections. Running against strong Democratic incumbent Bill Pascrell, Boteach (pronounced “Bo-tay-ach” in Hebrew) ran as a Republican and never really had much of a chance. He gave his early concession speech in Fair Lawn this evening, far earlier than the Republican party’s headliner did to the incumbent President.
I’m not saying that it was hard for the electorate to relate to a candidate whose primary claim to fame was being Michael Jackson’s spiritual advisor. His Wiki resume would seem to indicate that he has a bright future ahead in probing controversial issues. However Boteach was counting on a Maccabean Miracle to upend someone with a track record in politics, and it just wasn’t meant to be.
