The Wild West in the East

What a joy it is to be in Chicago today and have the comforts of electricity and a hot shower.  The Westin Lombard at Yorktown Center to be specific boasts of its trademarked double headed Heavenly Shower.   It’s merely heavenly to have hot water for many of us Jerseyans these days.

It is joyful to spend time with family, and celebrate our grandson Ethan’s 2nd birthday, but particularly so at this time, to get a respite from the chaos occurring back home.  Insane power outages have lead to long gas lines (fuel needed for generators and cars, but lack of power hindering pump operations).  Tempers are getting short, lines are getting longer, civility is being lost, and police are pulling up to stations able to supply gas to try and keep the peace. It has become like the Wild West in NY and NJ, with cowboy-ish tactics now including cutting of other cars at the pass, and siphoning gas from others under the cover of night.  Not a pretty sight.
