An Arizona Fall League Day – Part 2

Though an unabashed Phillies fan, I was excited to see #77 Billy Hamilton of the Cincinnati Reds leading off and playing CF.  He looked good out there, and his speed is as advertised – the 155 bases he stole in the minor leagues this year has to be some kind of a record.  Put it to good use on a bunt the first time up.  He also seems to bond well with the Phillies 3B prospect, Cody Asche (pronounced “Ashee”), who bats second in the lineup.

I like Asche’s swing.  He has a quick bat, and good speed.  The word is his reflexes are a bit slow at third, but in the couple of plays today he showed good leather and good instincts on throws to 2B to start DPs.  I can see him as a legit contender for a third base job.
