West Point Revisited: Lauren & Adam’s Wedding

Adam Scher, pictured here among Veterans of Foreign Wars, holds a special place in our hearts.  He entered the graduating class of 2004 at the United States Military Academy in 2000 with our son, Elliot, one year before the turmoil of 9-11.  We’ll never forget meeting Adam at Columbia University as Elliot’s co-captain on West Point’s Debate Team, racking up honors.

They are different today, these boys, than they were before serving their tours of duty.  We are incredibly proud of their transition to manhood and leadership.  They were separated overseas but modern day communications, particularly the Internet, makes it easier to stay in touch.  We kept abreast of Adam’s whereabouts and general welfare through his fiancee, Lauren, who was marvelous in providing email updates.  I wasn’t blogging in those days, so today’s wedding celebrating their union provided the chance for some closure.  What a gorgeous day at this bastion on the Hudson, as Lauren & Adam basked in the sunlight within and around Cadet Chapel.
