Come Fly Away at the Straz

We saw the Twyla Tharp-arranged dance-fest Come Fly Away at the Straz Center in Tampa, and it was quite the production.  If you love Sinatra the 18 piece live band interwoven with his ballads was worth the price of admission alone.  Personally I found the dance routines pleasing at first, then quickly boring.  For a musical production without any story line, the show needed more variety or props to interface with the twirling and dips.  This felt more like Dancing With The Stars than Broadway-like choreography.  All kvetching aside, the Straz was a pleasant surprise of a PAC.  Quite charming, actually, the way it’s integrated into the River Walk.
