A Special Treat for Threshers Fans

It was tempting but impractical to fly down to Clearwater yesterday with the news that three prime time Phils would be starting in an FSL game between your Threshers and the Palm Beach Cardinals.  Chase Utlety, Chooch, and Roy Oswalt made rehab starts that by all reports went well in front of an unusually large crowd at of 2,267 at Bright House, though the empty seats still predominated.  File this photo away, as it’s hopefully the one and only time that Utley and Oswalt will appear together in a Threshers’ uniforms.

I did get to take in the next best thing to being there, arriving to our Shore home in time to catch a portion of the game live on Comcast, and highlights on the post-game show as Ricky Bo dissected the performances.  Chase looked pleasantly sharp, given that the last time I saw him in Clearwater he was fielding balls on a rocker.  Chooch looked mobile behind the plate, and in mid-season form chugging down the first base line after swinging the ball.  Oswalt was another story, throwing lollipop curves after abandoning his lifeless fezball.  Time will tell.

Speaking of time, in tooling around the net this morning looking for news about the game’s aftermath, I tripped over this lovely compilation sure to give my grandkids a snicker:  The Phillies All-Moustache Team.  Enjoy the tune!

  1. Very timely post Len. I just shaved off my moustache earlier today for the first time in about 15 years!
